A New Plank

Whilst generally surfing around I came across a new launcher, which is similar to docky but called plank. And this is what it looks like -

Figure 1

Plank is a very lightweight and quick to launch launcher, and easy on resources. Looking at the above screenshot of plank you can see the ...

GreatLittleRadioPlayer - streaming radio!

I’ve just discovered GreatLittleRadioPlayer which has quite probably got the longest programme name I’ve ever seen! But its a streaming radio player for ubuntu and fedora, but I’ve got the 32-bit version working on Debian testing, with only one easily fulfillable dependency too. It can be found ...

Although I have a very modern and up-to-date computer with 4 gigs of RAM, I do like the desktop environment of LXDE, which has a very light footprint. I have customised it to my needs and preference, with a top panel for everything and cairo-dock in the bottom panel place ...

Keyboard Shortcuts

WINDOWS

The following short cuts will focus primarily on open windows.

File Indexing

By default under KDE, Debian 6 indexes files using nepomuk which can be suspended on the desktop, but that is only valid for one session. If you reboot then you have to suspend it again, so I’ve been looking for a way of turning it off completely.

And here ...

Time for a change - 2

I’ve been using CentOS for the last four years and got to know it quite well, but I’d become stale, it wasn’t fun anymore. I needed a change, so I tried out Ubuntu, and Kubuntu as I like KDE, but neither really satisfied me. So I tried ...

A new start!
